Waldy Challenge 2026 - September - Bag the Hills



Welcome to Septembers Challenge


Next month is the Waldy Balfour-Halewood Hill Climb so to get the legs ready we have the annual find it, climb it challenge in September. As always there is a mixture of familiar hills and some not so. Some will be covered on our Sunday rides and some will require you to travel to new places (although not that far away).


Simon B was my guest contributor for the list of Cols with their respective segments below (many thanks Simon), ranging from easy to very tough - you’ll need legs of steel to conquer them all but anyone should be capable of getting 6.


Sawyers Hill -Sawyer's Hill - 1.78km long, 2.2% average gradient, 39m ascent

Priest Hill - Priest Hill - 1.21km, 5.2%, 64m

Beddlestead - Beddlestead - 3.11km, 4%, 123m

Box Hill - Box Hill - 2.4km 4.7% 116m

Brockham Hill Lane - FCCC Hill Climb HHC018 - 1.67km, 6%,102m

Radnor Road from Peaslake -Radnor Road from Peaslake - 1.89km, 5.5%, 105m

Full Colstrope -Full Colstrope - 1.6km, 6.6%, 110m

Ranmore Common Lane - Ranmore Common Road - 1.59km, 7%, 108m

Shere Hell - Shere Hell - 5.17km 2.9% 178m

Titsey Hill -Titsey Hill - 2.27km, 6.3%, 165m

Barhatch Lane -Barhatch Lane - 2.45km, 6%, 158m

Leith Hill - Leith Hill - 2.01km, 8.3%, 139m


The points are, climb (at whatever pace suits you):


Any 3 cols 1pt

Any 6 cols 2pts

Any 9 cols 3pts

All 12 cols 4 pts


Most vertical meters climbed in September earns an extra point - one for men, one for women. A maximum of 5 points can be obtained.


Bonus points claimed are on an honesty basis and input into the google spreadsheet via the website. Navigate to the Waldy Challenge page and in the middle right of the page, press add bonuses; you will then be taken to the google sheet.
